Hospitality businesses experiencing staff shortages due to a lack of backpackers

An increased number of restaurants and cafes, particularly along the NSW Far South Coast, are experiencing significant staff shortages. Bar and wait staff are generally hired around this time of the year, the majority of whom are backpackers. However, due to the lack of backpackers and the COVID-19 outbreak, these businesses are struggling to find workers. Questions have now been raised on how they will cope with the upcoming expected busy summer period.
